The Bride Julie Garwood. Summer Bram stared into a pair of wide, dark eyes. Eyes that reflected a surprising glimmer of intelligence. This might be the rare female a man could reason with. Susanna is the unconventional "spinster" mother hen of this village filled with other spinsters and Victor Bramwell is a recently wounded soldier. It was silly. Format: Mass Market Paperback. That was fun. And on many occasions I wanted to beat the main characters heads together, but it made me laugh.

The ability to do that will allow me to forgive all kinds of shortcomings elsewhere in the story. It takes an extra-special lady to get me fully into her head. Susanna was one of this type. Bram slotted neatly into my love of military heroes of all stripes, so he could pretty much do no wrong in my eyes. Format: Kindle Edition. There were some funny parts, some tender moments and some good banter.
However, Bram and Susanna were both stubborn characters and I found it felt like they were at constant odds, and just when they seemed like they might make a go of it.. Some dire drama was put into the story.. I kinda wish they had just let them come to terms without that. The narrator really did help make the story come alive with her many voices and enthusiasm. I have heard there are some really good books in this series, so I am sure I will pick up the next one soon enough! Original review posted at: [ Miss Finch is the ultimate heroine in the Regency era. She has found a new way for Spindle Cove aka Spinsters' Cove to survive the economy brought on by England's war.
She caters to the women in the ton who are overlooked. Or, misdiagnosed for ailments and issues that too often subject them to poor medical treatment. Fresh air, exercise and tea are in order. Yet, Bram Lt. Colonel Bramwell interrupts her life and true battle ensues. Who will win the town? Will there be a need for militia in their fishing village? What about the cosmic attraction these two characters feel for each other. Will it be Miss Finch's ruin to let down her guard and let love in. Great setting and fabulous characters.
Love the female geologist character who gets her own story in "A Week to be Wicked. See all 4 customer reviews. Write a customer review. Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. Susanna made this a good story. She was loving, and strong and smart, and giving and forgiving; and did I say strong? He slowly lost his alpha card after that. And especially for an historical to boot! All their sexual escapades happen outside. It just doesn't fit with the genre to me.
We're not talking low society- maids and farm workers- but genteel people, here with titles and gowns.
